Girls Taking Action East African Chapter

Providing programming on education, hygiene, mental health, stress management, sexual harassment, bullying, field trips to colleges, financial aid, entrepreneurship, and social activities. Weekly Mentorship Program for Girls, grades 9-12.

First & Third Wednesday of every month (3:45pm - 4:45pm)

Boys of Hope East African Chapter

Providing programming for young men on academic success and career preparation, avoiding gangs and crime, hygiene, stress management, entrepreneurship, field trips to colleges, and social activities.

Second & Last Wednesday of every month (3:45pm - 4:45pm)

Education Advocacy

Addressing topics related to identifying the best schools for kids, bullying, IEPs, school enrollment, navigating school processes, discrimination issues, advocating for interpreters, helping kids raise their grades, and social activities. Monthly Workshop for Parents.

Last Thursday of every month (6:00pm - 8:00pm)

Yoga for Women

Yoga can provide them with valuable tools for navigating the challenges of adolescence and promoting a lifelong commitment to physical and mental well-being.

Every Sunday (10:00am - 12:00pm)

After School Program (In-Person)

SOMFAM offers in-person after school program. These programs include Somali langue reading and writing, math, other homework assistance.

Monday to Thursday of every week (4:00pm - 6:00pm)

Healthy Cooking Class

Skills-based workshop teaching girls and women to identify healthy foods and prepare healthy meals, reducing diseases including diabetes, heart disease, joint problems, and obesity that trouble our community.

Second Tuesday & Wednesday of every month (5:00pm - 7:00pm)

After School Program (Online)

SOMFAM offers online after school program. These programs include Somali langue reading and writing, math, other homework assistance.

Monday to Thursday every week (6:00pm - 7:30pm)

Circle of Healing

Addressing topics related to health, education, goal-setting, strengthening families, and community resources.

Last Wednesday of every month (6:00pm - 8:00pm)

Men’s Support Group

Helping fathers to become more involved with their children, especially their boys and teaching them about importance of being a father figure.

Third Thursday of every month (6:00pm - 8:00pm)

YouTube Video Series

Addressing topics related to family resources, community activities and summer programs for families, credit building, buying a house, finding the right schools for kids, mental health, and breaking social stigma; monthly news.
